What We Believe

At First Baptist Church, our beliefs are rooted in the truth of God’s Word. We seek to remain faithful to Scripture in all that we teach and practice, knowing that the Bible is our ultimate authority. Our greatest purpose is to bring glory to God and to enjoy Him forever. This page outlines the core convictions that shape our life together as a church and guide us in following Jesus Christ.

Statement of Faith

This is a summary of key biblical truths that guide our teaching, worship, and life together as a church. While not exhaustive, it provides clarity on the foundational doctrines we hold and proclaim.

We believe in the Spiritual being and unity of God manifesting Himself to humanity, not only as one, but as triune – Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Matthew 28:19-20; John 1:1-4; Hebrews 1:1-3: Revelation 1:4-6; Acts 5:3-4; II Corinthians 13:14

Baptist Principles

Baptists share a common faith with all Christians, yet there are some beliefs that set us apart from other denominations. Our distinct beliefs include:

The Bible is the authoritative and sufficient rule of faith
and practice

Isaiah 40:8; II Tim 3:15-16; II Peter 1:19-21

Baptist Confessions

At the heart of our faith is the conviction that Scripture alone is our ultimate and infallible authority. However, throughout history, believers have found it helpful to summarize biblical teachings in confessions of faith. These documents are not authoritative, but they serve as faithful reflections of what we understand the Bible to teach. They help us communicate our convictions, foster unity, and connect with the broader Christian tradition.
